In many respects, freedom of expression and privacy have been strengthened by the digital environment. There are more ways than ever to communicate freely, securely and anonymously.
But from laws that restrict freedom of speech, to network disruptions and bans on encryption, these rights are increasingly under threat. GPD works to ensure that national, regional, and global digital policies protect and promote users’ freedom of expression and privacy.
