Motsabi Rooper

Motsabi works across a number of internal projects at GPD relating to business development, organisational strategy, internal learning and culture. She also provides the secretariat function for GPD’s Board of Advisors.  

Motsabi has worked as Political Officer for the European External Action Service in Guatemala and Human Rights and Projects Officer at the British Embassy to Guatemala and Honduras. She joined GPD directly from the Civil Service Fast Stream programme where she supported trade negotiations at the Department of International Trade (DIT), coordinated a labour rights enforcement programme at the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and worked on leadership and change management at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

She has a BA in International Development and Spanish from the University of Leeds and an MA in International Studies and Diplomacy from SOAS University. Her academic studies have focused on North-South linkages, development and social change, gender studies, international law, global advocacy, diplomacy, and critical perspectives on international relations and international security. She has published academic research on the disciplinary effects of peacebuilding discourse.

Motsabi is fluent in English and Spanish and has intermediate French.
