GPD hires lead for new Cyber Capacity Building programme

Global Partners Digital (GPD) today announces a significant new hire.

Cathleen Berger, who joins GPD from the German Foreign Office, will lead our new Cyber Capacity Building programme, supporting the participation of global South civil society organisations in national, regional and global cyber policy debates. As programme lead, she’ll be responsible for research, analysis and the development of effective strategies for engagement, working alongside partner civil society actors and policy and regional experts.

Cathleen is an acknowledged expert in the internet freedom and digital rights space.  Complementing an impressive diplomatic record as international policy advisor at the German Foreign Office, she has helped develop digital policy recommendations for European development organisations and decision-makers under the aegis of the stiftung neue verantwortung (snv), a non-profit think tank based in Berlin. She is pursuing a fellowship at the Centre for Internet and Human Rights (CIHR), where she contributes to projects and publications dealing with digital rights and the threats they face, focusing particularly on the right to privacy, freedom of expression and the right to peaceful assembly.
