Council Working Group on International Internet-Related Public Policy Issues

The Council Working Group on International Internet-Related Public Policy Issues was established in 2010 with a mandate of identifying, studying and developing matters related to international Internet-related public policy issues. The term “Internet-related public policy issues” is not defined however the ITU Council has set out the issues to be considered as including: (i) multilingualisation of the Internet including internationalized (multilingual) domain names, (ii) international Internet connectivity, (iii) international public policy issues pertaining to the Internet and the management of Internet resources, including domain names snd addresses, (iv) the security, safety, continuity, sustainability, and robustness of the Internet, (v) combating cybercrime, (vi) dealing effectively with spam, (vii) issues pertaining to the use and misuse of the Internet, (viii) availability, affordability, reliability, and quality of service, especially in the developing world, (ix) contributing to capacity building for Internet governance in developing countries, (x) developmental aspects of the Internet, (xi) respect for privacy and the protection of personal information and data, and (xii) protecting children and young people from abuse and exploitation.
