GPD contributes to joint civil society input on OEWG’s annual progress report

Alongside 12 other endorsing organisations and experts, GPD has published a joint input to the draft annual progress report of the UN’s Open Ended Working Group on ICTs (OEWG).

The input is published ahead of the OEWG’s fifth substantive session. It makes recommendations to ensure the report accurately reflects the progress made in previous discussions, as well as proposing concrete actions to be taken to ensure effective implementation of the agreed framework of responsible state behaviour in cyberspace in a human-centric and rights-respecting manner.

The input can be read here. It has been endorsed by the following organisations and experts:

  • Access Now
  • Association for Progressive Communications (APC)
  • Centre for Multilateral Affairs (CfMA)
  • Derechos Digitales
  • Fundación Karisma

  • Kenya ICT Action Network (KICTANet)
  • Media Rights Agenda

In addition to following negotiations on the ground in New York, we’ll be co-hosting a side event with Derechos Digitales, Fundación Karisma and R3D on Wednesday, 26 July (13:15-14:30 EDT). The event follows the launch of GPD’s Inclusive Cyber Norms Toolkit, and will focus on discussing ways to shape inclusive and rights respecting cyber norms.
