Help map the cyber landscape in Kenya, India, Indonesia and Chile

Over the last few months, we’ve been experimenting with the NetMundial Solutions Map.

The Map is a collaborative data project, aiming to create a searchable, crowd-sourced and user-friendly map of the internet governance ecosystem. As it evolves, we believe it has the potential to become a valuable resource for civil society, facilitating new forms of data-driven, collaborative advocacy. If you’re a cyber expert with local insight, you can contribute by either verifying existing data or adding new actors, resources or solutions.

As part of our cyber capacity building programme, we’ve been using the Map to build a picture of the cyber landscape in the target countries of Kenya, IndiaIndonesia and Chile. This has been helpful for our own activities – for example, in identifying local actors and capacity gaps – but to make it as useful as possible for the wider community, we’re now calling on cyber experts to help complete the picture.

Needs vary for each country. In Kenya, 23 actors working on cyber issues are already on the Map, with other key policy and legal documents also outlined; here the priority is data verification and closing remaining gaps. India has plenty of government actors, but few from other stakeholder groups. And in Indonesia and Chile there’s a lot still to do. Take a look here.

Are you a cyber expert with insight on these countries? Contributing to the Map is simple – you can register here. If you’d like further guidance or are interested in how we’ve been using the Map, contact erwin{@}gp-digital.org .
