Survey results for cyber capacity building programme

Last week, we invited cyber policy experts from around the world to help shape the training component of our cyber capacity programme by completing a survey. The results are now in.

We received 52 responses in total, with a good regional balance – comprising contributions from Latin America and the Caribbean (21), Africa (12), Asia (9) and the Global North (10).

In the survey, we asked respondents to “identify the top 3 most pressing cyber policy issues for 2016/17 and/or issues that they considered relevant to their region. In framing the options, we drew on the taxonomy of a previous curriculum on cybersecurity, which was developed for civil society in preparation for the Global Conference on CyberSpace 2015.

The results were as follows:

To broaden the scope of topics covered, we also asked respondents to identify additional issues to focus on. The most common answers included:

  • legal and regulatory frameworks
  • cyber threats
  • awareness raising and digital literacy
  • net neutrality
  • concerns around data sovereignty

These results will help shape the development of our training programme. Stay posted for further updates.
